Librarian in the Library

Following the path of one assistant into full librarianship

My name is Jess, and I run this blog ‘Librarian in the Library’.

I currently work as an assistant librarian in a college library. This blog is primarily for me to document my road from assistant librarian to librarian, and the specialities I am interested in. Currently my areas of interest are cataloguing, metadata, bibliometrics/altmetrics and digital aspects of librarianship.

I have been working in the library sector for over 3 years, and although this was not the career I though I would have after graduating, I have found that my love of books applies not only to my hobbies, but to my career as well. Currently I am in my second (and last) year of a masters degree in librarianship and have also started my Chartership through CILIP, looking to further myself as a professional librarian.

My posts will include observations about my job, aspects of training & learning, professional development, my areas of interests and other items I think are interesting or relevant (for example book reviews, promotions, or interesting articles).

Feel free to find me on LinkedIn or Twitter
